The Tension Hydrotester tests small diameter pipe effectively by eliminating detrimental column forces that may result in bent pipe. The Tension Hydrotester applies up to 20,000 psi to ensure the pipe meets strict regulations. Engineered to accommodate a wide variety of specifications, the Brandt Tension Hydrotester is capable of testing pipe in diameter of 1.900" to 9.625", and 15' to 60' in length.

Features
The pipe will be end referenced and ID flushed before indexing into the hydrotest station. Depending on production rates required, the pipe handling function is either performed by a drag chain system or is indexed via gravity. Tooling, saddles and clamps are changed for pipe diameter and are quick change drop in components. The pipe clamps engage to secure the pipe within the hydro station. The test heads now engage the pipe, which is filled while the purge valve is open, allowing trapped air to escape. The heads utilize the effect of the test pressure to grip pipe from coming out of the heads. Sealing is accomplished by using a urethane lip seal on the OD (plain end) or the ID (external upset end) of the pipe. Once pipe is filled with water, the hydraulic pressure intensifier is activated to bring internal pressure up to test set point. After testing, the pipe leaves the hydro and onto the exit skid and drain table. After several tested pipe are positioned on the drain table, it raises to remove excess water from the product.
- OD Variations- pipe OD ranging from 1.900" to 9.625". With quick change tooling, the Brandt hydrotester can accommodate the entire range on a single machine. The hydrotester is easily and quickly changed over to a new size with drop-in components.
- Pipe Lengths- can design a system to accommodate any length variation, as well as properly test random lengths in a multiple head machine (+0/ -30" variation).
- End Condition- can accommodate beveled or deburred plain end square cut or API external upset. Due to external gripping mechanism, threaded pipe cannot be tested with this machine.
- Operating Modes- can operate in various modes - fully automatic; semi-automatic; and manual. All adjustments including test pressure, fill pressure, pipe length and test time can all be controlled at a touch of a button from within the operator's station. Alarm diagnostics and maintenance screens for fast and accurate trouble-shooting.
- Test Pressure/Control- can test with stable pressure of 500 psi (3.5 MPa) to 20,000 psi (140 MPa). Using a water-over-oil intensifier and a closed loop control, a quick and stable test pressure is obtained.
