Integrating destructive testing processes into your Finishing Floor solution ensures consistent quality of ERW pipe. The Brandt Flat Test Press is used to test small portions of the pipe ranging in size from 2-3/8" to 7-5/8" OD. The Flat Test Press receives the end of the pipe that was cut off by the saw and inserts it into the press, where 100 tons of pressure is applied and held until the pipe flattens.

Features
The Flat Test Press is used to crush a short piece of pipe sample for further mechanical property testing. The Flat Test Press receives the end of the pipe that was cut off by the saw and inserts it into the press, where pressure is applied and held until the pipe flattens. The weld line is positioned at 0 degrees or 90 degrees to the applied force and the ring flattened to a specific height. Examination after the test gives a fair evaluation of the mill setup, steel quality, and welding and normalizing practice.
The flat test press is a hydraulic actuated press which consists of an HPU, a heavy duty hydraulic cylinder, top and bottom platens, and a press frame. The HPU supplies the power to the press. The hydraulic cylinder, and top and bottom platens perform the press function on pipe samples.
