The SP 124i inset slipform paver from Wirtgen is the perfect solution for cost-effective paving of large concrete surfaces from 16 ft. to 40 ft. wide. This versatile machine’s frame can be hydraulically telescoped lengthwise and mechanically telescoped sideways, making it highly adaptable for a variety of jobs. Plus, tie bars and dowels can be inserted into an optional self-loading dowel-bar inserter to pave concrete that requires reinforced steel. The intelligent machine concept with hydraulic swing arms and worm-gear steering makes it easy to transport, delivering maximum flexibility for any job.

Features
Slipform Paving Inset
- Concrete can be deposited in the front of the slipform paver or fed in through the side via a belt conveyor or side feeder, delivering versatility at the jobsite. The concrete is then distributed evenly across the full paving width by a spreading auger or spreading plow.
- Built-in electrical or hydraulic vibrators ensure precise, homogenous compaction of the concrete surface to the specified thickness and width while the slipform paver travels forward.
- A dowel bar inserter can be added to incorporate bars into the concrete as specified, parallel to the paver’s direction of travel.
- Central tie bars or side tie bars can be inserted perpendicular to the concrete pavement. The oscillating beam then scrapes the surface across the roadway while a super smoother smooths the concrete surface to finish.
Leveling Technology
- Wirtgen’s leveling technology adjusts height, depth, and pitch for extremely accurate results. The system compares the actual values to predefined target values and adjusts the deviations proportionately; guaranteeing outstanding leveling results while significantly reducing your operator’s workload.
