Brandt is a Proud Supporter of Juvenile Diabetes
August 1, 2014
The Canadian Diabetes Association is making summer camp a reality for children with type 1 diabetes in Saskatchewan. The annual week-long overnight camping program, presented by Brandt, hosted a full medical team and 65 children between the ages of 8 to 14 years at Camp Easter Seal in Manitou Beach, Saskatchewan from July 27th to Aug. 1st, 2014.
Brandt is a proud supporter of Juvenile Diabetes. Through Brandt's "Thanks a Billion" program, we are pleased to have donated $65,000 towards the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the Canadian Diabetes Association Saskatchewan Children’s D-Camp.
"We all know friends, family, or co-workers affected by diabetes and its life-changing effects. Donating to the Canadian Diabetes Association's Saskatchewan Children's D-Camp is a priority for Brandt, because of the great work they do to help children and families connect and share experiences to better help them cope with and self-manage this serious disease,” says Gavin Semple, Chairman, Brandt Group of Companies. “Helping children and families within a supportive and nurturing environment such as this camping program is a very worthy cause—one that Brandt is very honoured to support."
D-Camp has been operating for more than 50 years, giving children living with type 1 diabetes what is often their first experience away from home. The camp offers children the opportunity to learn independence and self-management of their diabetes in a medically supervised environment, while they enjoy a summer camp experience with other youth who understand the day-to-day challenges of diabetes.
