June 23, 2014
As part of the Thanks a Billion initiative and in recognition of Stroke Month, which is June, Brandt Group of Companies has granted a generous $50,000 donation to The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Brandt and Heart and Stroke Foundation representatives along with numerous stakeholders gathered at the Wascana Bandstand on June 19th in the Queen City to celebrate this major contribution to the fight against heart disease and stroke.
“The money we receive goes toward world-class research that helps prevent disease, save lives and promote a more full and speedy recovery for heart disease and stroke patients,” says Lorie Langenfurth, CEO, Heart and Stroke Foundation Saskatchewan. Since 1952, the Foundation has invested more than $1.39 billion in life-saving research.
Gavin Semple, Chairman of Brandt Group of Companies, was on hand to present the $50,000 cheque. “We chose the Heart and Stroke Foundation because of its investment in making our communities healthy places to live and work and the important role it plays in ensuring research into heart disease and stroke continues,” he says. Since 2012, as part of its Thanks a Billion initiative, Brandt has granted more than $9 million, including donations to more than 215 charitable initiatives in 99 communities.
