Brandt announces plan to add major manufacturing capacity in the US
December 1, 2017
Regina, Saskatchewan – The Brandt Group of Companies has announced a major expansion into the US market with the acquisition of a state-of-the-art 200,000sq/ft manufacturing plant and equipment from Kongskilde Industries A/S. The plant, located in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois, was previously employed in the manufacture of agricultural equipment for the American market.
“We are very excited at the opportunity to expand our manufacturing footprint directly into the American market,” says Brandt President, Shaun Semple.
“This is a world-class manufacturing facility and we are delighted to add it to other recent major investments in Canadian centres such as Regina, Saskatoon, Calgary and Fort St. John.”
While Brandt has maintained a strong and growing presence on the Canadian manufacturing scene since 1932 and currently sells its products in over 20 countries around the world, this acquisition represents the company’s first manufacturing venture in the United States. It augments an aggressive growth strategy currently underway in Canada.
The Bloomington-Normal facility is situated on 40 acres of land and is fully equipped with the latest tooling, including a modern powder-coat paint line. It will be used by Brandt to produce agricultural equipment for the American corn and soybean markets in the US.
The deal with Kongskilde is expected to close December 15, 2017.
